R+W - Screw Jack [Maintenance-free screw jack synchronization]

When refining steel and aluminum, coils are welded into an endless strip. The finishing process requires continuous unwinding, so interruptions cannot be tolerated.

To support the continuous flow of material, a storage tower over 15 meters high is used, with fixed and movable roller blocks inside to distribute and hold over 300 meters of strip at any one time. The movable roller blocks are raised and lowered as needed to ensure a continuous supply.

The cylinders that perform the vertical adjustments are connected over a distance of 3 meters by precision, self-supporting, backlash-free shaft couplings from R+W. A special internal support transfers the weight of the intermediate tube to the individual cylinder shafts, thus protecting the flexible bellows from damage and ensuring continuous availability.
