ELLICAM, the workshop of the future made in France: the new industrial era imagined by Ellistat

ELLICAM, the workshop of the future made in France: the new industrial era imagined by Ellistat

From Haute-Savoie, the SME Ellistat is shaking up the world of mechanical engineering. Founded in 2017 by Davy Pillet, the company develops innovative software to digitize, automate, and improve the reliability of production. Its latest invention, ELLICAM, represents a major step forward toward an accessible, agile, and efficient Industry 4.0, where machines self-regulate, even for small production runs… A true French success story.

A clear vision: democratizing Industry 4.0

When Davy Pillet founded Ellistat in 2017, he probably had no idea that, just a few years later, he would transform the production methods of thousands of European manufacturers. His goal? To design quality management software that was simple, powerful, and, above all, truly useful in workshops. This is how Ellistat was born, a "full web" solution, centralizing all production data in real time, without complex configuration or heavy IT infrastructure. The key idea: to enable companies, especially SMEs, to move to Industry 4.0 without technological obstacles.

Building on this initial success, Davy Pillet and his team continued their quest for excellence by partnering with the best French mechanical engineering laboratories. This collaboration resulted in a suite of intelligent tools, including Automated Process Control (APC), a technology capable of automatically correcting machine tool drift. This innovation paved the way for an even more ambitious project: ELLICAM .

ELLICAM: autonomy at the service of workshops

Presented at the latest Global Industrie Show in Lyon, ELLICAM is much more than just a software module. For the first time, it allows for the creation of a closed loop between CAM software (such as AlphaCAM or TopSolid) and the machine tool, without human intervention. This "closed loop manufacturing" allows companies to produce 100% compliant parts from the first machining run. It's a true revolution!

With ELLICAM, even a non-specialist operator can produce a part from the first use. The machine automatically adjusts its parameters after analyzing a single copy, thanks to machine learning algorithms. The result: an immediate ROI , driven by a 75% reduction in setup time and a reduction in the reject rate of up to 90%. No more long setup phases, material losses, and dependence on metrology experts: the workshop becomes autonomous, agile, and profitable. "What makes us strong," emphasizes Davy Pillet, "is the ability to transform a technological innovation into a concrete solution, deployable from the first parts. Our customers measure their return on investment very precisely, which makes our value proposition particularly convincing."

"This is a revolution that will enable our customers and all industrial machinists to deploy APC on all their machines, even for small series," he continues. The key? Technology, and in particular the ability to adjust a machine autonomously, or even a fleet of more than 300 machines in real time.

In a context where the shortage of qualified technicians is holding back many companies, ELLICAM thus provides a concrete solution: a single operator capable of positioning a part on a measuring machine is now sufficient, the rest is automated. A fundamental transformation, especially for machining SMEs faced with the multiplication of references, the growing complexity of parts and the quality demands of their customers.

A success story driven by technology and word of mouth

The company's growth is based on a dual strategy: technological reliability and customer satisfaction. Word of mouth plays a decisive role in business development, to the point that the company is now well-known throughout Europe and is beginning to make inroads in the United States. There, it still needs convincing and evangelizing: "Americans find it hard to believe this technology actually exists. Yet, it's here in France that we've taken the lead," assures Davy Pillet.

Ellistat: organic growth and sustainable profitability

Ellistat cultivates atypical growth, at the crossroads of innovation and pragmatism. "Today, we combine two fairly rare things: we have the growth of a startup and the profitability of a good SME!" emphasizes Davy Pillet. "We have never raised funds, and that's very important to clarify." This controlled development model strengthens the company's credibility with manufacturers, who are looking for solid, long-term partners who are rooted in the reality on the ground.

On the development side, Ellistat isn't stopping at ELLICAM. New plugins are being designed to integrate the tool with other CAM software and make the solution compatible with all industrial environments. In the long term, the goal is clear: "to become the world leader in automatic machine tool control." And the room for improvement is immense.

In just a few years, Ellistat has gone from developing statistical software to designing intelligent solutions capable of radically transforming machine shops. At the helm of this industrial adventure, Davy Pillet embodies a new generation of French entrepreneurs, capable of inventing tools here in the region that inspire the world. Ellistat currently has 25 employees and is constantly recruiting to support its growth and meet the ever-increasing demand from its industrial clients.

With ELLICAM, it's not just about evolving production tools, but also about redrawing the contours of modern industry: an agile, efficient, and inclusive industry that no longer depends on rare skills, but relies on the power of software and the precision of algorithms. The workshop of the future is no longer a promise. Thanks to Ellistat, it is already a reality.
