Circular economy: in Flins, cars rise from the ashes

Circular economy: in Flins, cars rise from the ashes

A new step in the circular automotive economy is taking shape in Flins, with the announcement by The Future Is NEUTRAL of the opening of a dismantling center on the emblematic Refactory site.

A leading player in the automotive circular economy, The Future Is NEUTRAL announces the opening of a dismantling center at the Flins Refactory by the end of the year. This strategic site, with a processing capacity of 7,000 end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) per year, strengthens a unique ecosystem in Europe dedicated to the recovery of end-of-life vehicles.

This new center is part of the company's closed-loop strategy, which aims to reuse as many parts and materials from end-of-life vehicles as possible, without drawing on natural resources. Equipped with an industrialized process, it will be able to extract more than 25 parts per vehicle and recycle more than 14 types of materials.

An industrial project with high environmental value

The Flins center draws on INDRA's expertise in deconstruction engineering and will be operated by GAIA, a specialized subsidiary of The Future Is NEUTRAL already established on the site. Around twenty jobs will be created as a result.

According to Xavier Kaufman, Chief Business Officer of The Future Is NEUTRAL and Vice President of the Refactory, this center will make it possible to "establish short, closed loops" that meet the expectations of automotive professionals in terms of quality, performance and compliance with environmental standards.

The Refactory, a European showcase for the circular economy

The deconstruction center will operate in synergy with the Refactory's other units: accident vehicle repair, used vehicle reconditioning, parts repair, remanufacturing, and battery recycling. With this complementarity, the Refactory becomes the first European industrial site to bring together the entire end-of-life vehicle processing chain.
