Amiens: the world’s biggest beetle-breeding vertical farm

It is in Poulainville, near Amiens, that the Ÿnsect company is currently building a vertical farm specializing in the breeding of Molitor beetles, whose larva is none other than the mealworm. These high value-added insects are intended for the composition of high value-added ingredients for feeding animals, fish, plants and humans. The project, called Ÿnfarm, will enable the production of around 100,000 tonnes per year of “premium, sustainable and natural” ingredients. The building, which will be operational in 2022, will reach 36 meters in height for a total area of 45,000 m2.
