Lesaffre: a new factory to develop new markets
The French family group Lesaffre, based in Marcq-en-Barœul, near Lille, world leader in yeast for bread, has decided to diversify into the field of nutrition and health. The global yeast giant is, in fact, betting more and more on the development of uses for the fermentation of micro-organisms in the field of nutrition and health, both human, animal and plant, as explained by its general manager Antoine Baule. Partly financed by the State recovery plan, an investment of 150 million euros has been decided to build in Denain, in the North, a factory which will manufacture an ingredient for food supplements against joint pain, in replacing an ingredient currently made from animal cartilage. The start of the plant is scheduled for 2024.
