64 -Toray to create a new carbon fiber production line in Abidos

Toray announces the creation of a sixth carbon fiber production line at the Abidos site in the Atlantic Pyrenees. This should see the light of day at the end of 2025 with nearly 50 jobs at stake. This is an investment of 100 million euros to meet the demand of new markets invested by Toray Carbon Fibers Europe after the Covid crisis. Start of work: second half of 2023. Given the collapse of the aeronautics market, Toray CFE has, in the space of two years, reviewed its economic model and developed new markets in the automotive industry, wind power and uranium enrichment. "It's a premium, high-tech fiber that meets very specific applications," explains Jean-Marc Guilhempey, CEO of Toray CFE. It will therefore be produced on this new line inside a new 6000m2 building which will back onto the 5th production line.
