Vulkam raises 34 million euros to build its first amorphous metals factory
The industrial startup Vulkam, specializing in the manufacture of amorphous metals also called metallic glasses, which are more solid and energy efficient, has just announced a fundraising of 34 million euros. The young company based in Isère is one of the only ones in the world in its field. It should produce 2 million pieces per year for the watchmaking, health and aerospace sectors from 2025. It thus intends to position itself in a market which is currently niche but which it seen as revolutionary in the world of materials. As a reminder, amorphous metals are at least twice as solid and consume less raw materials and energy than so-called conventional materials.
