RIM Technology
This RIM technology is generally favored for obtaining medium or large sized parts with few detail areas. The tooling can be of the silicone or resin type, produced from a master model generally obtained by stereolithography or machined LAB. The capacity can reach, depending on the type of tool, several hundred parts, depending on their geometric complexity and the material used. In the case of a rigid mold (resin or LAB), the constraints related to the undercuts are the same as for a thermoplastic injection mold. The wide range of PU resins available makes it possible to get as close as possible to the final thermoplastic, in terms of mechanical behavior (rigid, semi-rigid, flexible), thermal resistance or fire classification (UL 94 V0). This RIM technology therefore makes it possible to obtain small, medium or large series of parts offering excellent representativeness of the final product, but also a very good economic alternative to traditional means of production (machining, injection, etc.).
