Brake checker

The roba brake checker is an electronic box which supplies and controls the safety brakes in the event of a power failure.

The intelligent ROBA®-brake-checker module works without mechanical or proximity contact. The movement of the disc is detected by analyzing the current and the voltage, which makes it possible to check the state of the brake at any time. In addition to the switching function, the module can also deduce the temperature, the state of wear or the remaining level of electromagnetic force: for example, does the electromagnet have sufficient force to attract the disk. With this module, mayr® power transmission is the only player to offer an intelligent sensorless solution for controlling electromagnetic brakes.

The lack of current brake control without sensors: infallible even in degraded environments

The ROBA®-brake-checker can be easily and quickly integrated into machines and equipment as well as existing installations which can be retrofitted without difficulty. This product is an economical solution, especially for small series. The fact that brakes in standard execution can be checked by a ROBA®-brake-checker not only offers advantages in terms of costs and times, but also to facilitate the protection against corrosion of the brakes because they can easily and quickly be painted. For example for cases where the risk of corrosion is very high and calls for protective measures in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 12944 standard on anti-corrosion protection (C5), such as on wind turbines or applications in the marine environment.
