GFX Guidance for XTS Beckhoff

Description

Linear motion experts HepcoMotion have partnered with Beckhoff to develop specific versions of their PRT2 and 1-Trak guides to combine with Beckhoff's XTS drive system. This option meets the needs of the most demanding applications where speed profiles and long-term reliability requirements are particularly demanding.

The Beckhoff XTS drive system uses linear motor technology to independently drive the motion of multiple movers on a circuit. It offers a solution for complex, high-speed movements up to 4 m/s, without compromising positioning accuracy.

The system incorporates Hepco's patented 1-Trak guide circuit and lightweight three-roller mover. It ensures the optimal trajectory for the 180° Beckhoff modules. 1-Trak systems consist of an aluminum baseplate with curved 1-Trak segments and ground linear rails, providing stiffness and the highest level of accuracy and repeatability.

Hepco PRT2 systems are compatible with Beckhoff motor module sizes in 22.5° and 45°, providing solutions for larger applications. Based on Hepco's standard PRT2 range, the guideways can as standard be configured in circular, oval and rectangular systems, and can be supplied as complete systems factory assembled, semi-assembled or in component form.

Technical details

HepcoMotion and Beckhoff – HepcoMotion is working in partnership with Beckhoff to develop the GFX system, a high-end indexer that provides the support and stiffness needed for precision XTS applications.

Flexibility – The Beckhoff XTS drive system uses linear motor technology to independently drive movers on a track. This makes it possible to combine operations of variable durations, changing products on the fly and adding or removing workstations as needed.

Accuracy and Reliability – The GFX provides trajectory and mechanically guides movers along the motor modules at the set speed, providing a high level of accuracy, precise alignment and stress resistance.

Long life – The GFX is designed to handle high and complex kinematics requiring sustained operating rates.

Robustness – The GFX absorbs the considerable efforts that the movers and parts undergo during the phases of acceleration and deceleration, thus increasing the lifespan of the system.

Low Maintenance – Using HepcoMotion V-Roller Guide Technology , the system requires very little maintenance to achieve consistently high performance.

Increased productivity – Together, the GFX and XTS offer exceptional flexibility in terms of speed profiles and layout possibilities, facilitating increased productivity.
