Corten steel grating
Corten steel is acclaimed by architects and decorators for its “rust” appearance. Oxidation, in this case, forms a protective layer. It reinforces, in fact, the solidity of the steel and allows it to resist atmospheric corrosion. This so-called self-weathering steel results from the combination of several alloys including phosphorus, copper, chromium and even nickel.
The orange/brown color of Corten appears naturally under the influence of atmospheric conditions (wind, sun and rain). The oxidation of the metal matures after one or even three years. The patina of each grating is ultimately unique!
It is possible to use Corten steel both outdoors and indoors: street furniture, works of art, signs, construction elements, etc. Note, it is recommended to wait for the material to have a patina and stabilize before installing it in a building.
