LATTYcore
The new LATTYcore range with a graphite core includes five new braids with different properties, capable of meeting the requirements of the most severe or aggressive environments. Depending on the model, they offer very high mechanical performance, high resistance to charged fluids, chemical inertness or very good resistance to abrasive fluids. The addition of a graphite core provides more elasticity, a reduction in running-in times, a spacing between retightenings and optimal sealing under light tightening.
In addition, graphite allows a reduction in friction which thus guarantees real water and energy savings.
Graphite, unlike elastomers, is resistant to most chemical agents such as mineral agents and solvents and offers very good temperature resistance. Depending on the models, the packings have an operating temperature range of -200°C to +300°C and operation up to pressures of 1000 bar.
Thanks to the flexibility of graphite, assembly and disassembly operations are facilitated and maintenance time is reduced. In addition, graphite is one of the materials with the best resistance to aging, which increases the time between two interventions.
This new range of LATTYcore braids complements an already extensive offer: all of GROUPE LATTY's research into the development of fibers and lubricants enables it to offer a range of around fifty different qualities of braids, made up of more than 70 types of impregnation and 120 different varieties of yarn (Aramid, PTFE, graphite, carbon, etc.).
With this in mind, GROUPE LATTY. has developed the LATTYcore 7189 G braid, which is economically attractive, less abrasive and with a longer MTBF than standard braids and does not cause excessive wear of the shaft sleeves. The LATTYcore 7189 G braid is made up of phenolic composite yarns on the friction faces, polyacrylic yarns in the core and graphite yarns which give it excellent elastic recovery. In addition, a deep impregnation is carried out during the braiding, allowing to further reduce friction. Flexible, robust, easy to cut and fit, it requires only a few retightenings after installation, thus reducing running-in times and thereby optimizing maintenance times. This new braid offers a decisive advantage for the preservation of shaft sleeves since it can be used without a lantern. These lanterns are powered by other pumps that draw charged water from water tanks or artificial ponds. When these pumps break down, the lanterns of the mud pumps are no longer powered, their stuffing boxes deteriorate and in turn rapidly damage the shaft sleeves. The LATTYcore 7189 G has been used with positive feedback, in environments where water saving is important or even essential. The LATTYcore 7189 G packing originally developed to meet the constraints of the mining industries in order to increase the mean time between failures (MTBF) on phosphate slurry pumps where abrasion is very high, has also proven to be very effective in difficult environments, particularly in the treatment of waste water, paper mills, sugar factories.
