Carbios opens its first plastics recycling plant

After completing its fourth capital increase for a record amount of 114 million euros last spring, the young Auvergne company Carbios, which specializes in the recycling of plastics and textiles, should inaugurate next September in Clermont-Ferrand, the first industrial demonstrator of its enzyme-based PET (polyethylene terephthalate) recycling technology. This first prototyping unit should require an investment of 20 to 25 million euros, and enable Carbios to process and produce an annual quantity of 200 tons of recycled PET.
