In 2021, Hänel Büro- und Lagersysteme is once again among the German innovation leaders

For the third time in a row, in a study covering the whole of Germany, the FAZ-INSTITUT has established that in 2021 the company Hänel Büro- und Lagersysteme is again one of the innovation leaders in Germany. The company Prognos carried out the study on the leaders of innovation in Germany on behalf of the FAZ-INSTITUT in cooperation with the IMWF (Institute for Research in Management and Economics).

This study is based on data from the PATSTAT database of the European Patent Office (EPO Worldwide Patent Statistical Database). The innovativeness and leadership of companies in Germany are assessed according to two criteria:

• Leadership – How does the invention influence other inventions?
• Novelty/innovative capacity of the invention – How does it differ from past inventions?

These two fundamental data allow to identify the German leaders of the innovation.

The authors of this study analyzed all patent families worldwide over the past ten years. Based on established metrics, they evaluated their applicants' innovation leadership and research activities in Germany in more than 500 areas of technology and knowledge.

With its particularly innovative inventions and patents, Hänel Büro- und Lagersysteme – which is one of the world leaders in its sector – has made a decisive contribution to the development of automated storage.
