Hanel, finalist for the IFOY AWARD 2021

Hänel specialists realized the integration of twelve Hänel Rotomat® storage systems serving two floors in a modern warehouse solution for MSC Technologies, an on-board system supplier. In addition to ensuring the physical flow of goods, the rotating racks are integrated into the SAP environment without any intermediate IT interface. Specificity: the storer control acts as an SAP terminal. The Hänel Group is delighted to have been awarded the "Best in Intralogistics" certificate for this innovative project.

The “Best in Logistics” label was created three years ago to give visibility to remarkable technologies nominated for an IFOY AWARD. To obtain this certificate, innovations must have passed the IFOY audit, which is an independent intralogistics test and consists of three parts.

The first part is the IFOY scientific “Innovation Check” which is carried out by three technical bodies (Dortmunder Fraunhofer-Institut für Materialfluss und Logistik [IML], Chair of Technical Logistics at the University of Dresden and Chair of Handling, Material Flow, Logistics from the Technical University of Munich). In addition, scientists check the innovations presented by the manufacturers in the test room and carry out technological comparisons to determine whether they are innovative developments, new products or genuine innovations.

The second part of the audit is a practical test carried out by Dutch specialist journalist Theo Egberts. The devices are subject to individualized movement or function tests. One of these tests follows the IFOY protocol which includes 80 criteria related to economic efficiency, energy efficiency, durability, safety and ergonomics.

The third part of the audit is the assessment of the finalists by the jurors and a selection of experts. Based on the IFOY Innovation Check, the results of the IFOY test and their own experiences during the test, the members of the jury make up their minds and then vote.

Hänel is proud that the innovative project carried out for MSC Technologies met with such a favorable response in this high-level competition. The fact that the company was awarded the certificate in the category "Integrated Warehouse Solution" and is one of the finalists testifies to Hänel's innovative capacity in the digitalization of intralogistics.
