A giga-factory for components for electric cars planned in Hauts de France
The French alumina supplier Alteo and the South Korean industrialist Wscope have announced a 600 million investment plan to build the world's largest electric separator plant on French soil.
This agreement will allow the two companies to finalize the assembly of the project and to validate the location of the French production site, with a clear desire to position themselves as close as possible to the gigafactories.
The start of production is scheduled for 2026 and should supply 100% of the separator needs of the three gigafactories of batteries in France.
Separators are a key component of batteries located between the cathode and the anode.
This announcement reinforces the government's strategy of reindustrialization of the territory but also of full employment with the creation of 1,000 direct jobs.
