54 - Indorama injects 110 million euros into the Carbios plant
The Thai group, world leader in the production of PET, is creating a joint venture with the Clermont-based company Carbios (Green Chemistry) to start up the enzymatic recycling unit in Longlaville (Meurthe-et-Moselle). Carbios aims to become a leader in the growing recycled PET market by capturing an 8-12% share by 2035 through a licensing model. Indorama is the world leader in the production of PET, one of the most widely used plastic resins in the manufacture of plastic bottles and trays. The Thai group has been supporting Carbios since the start of its factory project in Lorraine since it will be built, precisely, on a site it already operates. The memorandum of intent for the creation of the joint venture was signed via its subsidiary Indorama Ventures, it provides for an investment of 110 million euros in equity and non-convertible loans.
