Elyse Energy launches 700 million euro e-methanol plant

Selected by the European Fund for Innovation, the project, which represents a total investment of around €700 million, will make it possible to relocate the production of nearly 150,000 tonnes of renewable methanol and avoid the emission of 207,000 tonnes per year of CO2. After launching a billion-euro biofuel factory, the Lyon industrial SME specializing in low-carbon molecules, Elyse Energy, announces the establishment of a new e-methanol production site which should generate nearly 80 jobs. Work should start in 2025 on the Roches-Roussillon chemical platform in Isère, with industrial commissioning in early 2028. The emergence of e-methanol offers a significant green reindustrialization opportunity for France.
