Celle Sawmill: a new automated sawmill in Haute-Loire

The Celle sawmill in Araules is undertaking a major investment programme to build a new automated sawmill, thereby increasing its production fivefold. Thanks to the extension of the Vestias area, with a municipal investment of €800,000, the family business run by Serge Celle and his brothers is expanding on its historic land. The new sawmill, scheduled for late 2024-early 2025, will replace the one from the 1990s and will be able to process logs from 350 to 900 mm in diameter, with a daily production of 500 m³. This investment of €15 million, supported by the Recovery Plan to the tune of €1.8 million, will enable the company to better supply its pallet manufacturing workshops and export to Italy. Other projects are being considered, including sawdust waste management and a new site dedicated to pallet repair and recycling.
