Open-Prod modernizes Axiome ERP

Open-Prod modernizes Axiome ERP

Open-Prod - which will participate in GI 2025 - is a latest-generation ERP solution designed to meet the specific needs of manufacturing companies. Open-Prod has just equipped Axiome, an industrial robotics company, recognized for its expertise in the design and integration of robotic cells, whose strategic vision is to “give a job to a robot”.

The Vendée company Axiome, which designs robotic cells for complex handling operations, process automation and integrating them into their industrial environment, serves a diversified portfolio of more than 200 customers in France and internationally. Its clientele, ranging from large groups such as Forvia, Motherson, Safran and Airbus to SMEs and ETIs, covers sectors such as the automotive, aeronautics, and general industry, including naval, railway and watchmaking.

A need for modernization in the face of growth ambitions

Faced with the limitations of an aging ERP that was more than 15 years old and more maintained, Axiome noticed a gap between its IT tool and its development strategy. The company aspired in particular to strengthen the synergy of all its internal services ranging from sales functions to the notion of customer base monitoring, an ambition and a broader functional coverage that the old system could not support effectively.

In search of the ideal solution

The search for a new ERP, matured over 4 to 5 years and slowed down by the COVID crisis, was structured around precise criteria ranging from a modern solution covering the entire cycle, from pre-sales to machine fleet management, including design offices, purchasing and assembly. Axiome then conducted an in-depth internal audit of its current and future processes, enriched by the expertise of an external consultant for the development of the specifications. An exhaustive benchmark followed, evaluating nearly 40 solutions on the market. Only 5 companies were invited to respond to the specifications, with Open-Prod emerging in the lead after a defense including a POC (Proof of Concept). The decision was based on key criteria: functional coverage, budget, ergonomics, and quality of exchanges with the teams. Open-Prod stood out for its ability to respond precisely to Axiome's specific needs and the expertise of its integration teams.

The launch of Open-Prod followed a well-thought-out schedule. And, to facilitate this major transition, Axiome focused on change management, in particular by designating pilot-references in each department, ensuring a harmonious and efficient adoption of the new tool.

Tangible and immediate benefits

The rapid implementation of Open-Prod has already generated significant benefits, i.e. functional coverage perfectly aligned with the new business strategy, smooth integration of the different modules, from the preliminary project to maintenance; but also automated management of BOMs, considerably reducing data entry errors and processing time, and finally increased visibility across all business processes. "The implementation of Open-Prod represents a major turning point for Axiome. This solution finally gives us the flexibility and power needed to support our growth and innovation. The automated management of BOMs, in particular, has transformed the way we work. We save valuable time and considerably reduce the risk of errors, which is crucial in our field where precision is essential. In addition, the global vision we now have of our processes allows us to be more responsive and strategic in our decisions," says Grégory Charrier, Technical Director at Axiome. Given the long sales cycles (more than 6 months) characteristic of its activity, Axiome is currently managing a transition phase, with old business still processed on the old ERP while new business is integrated into Open-Prod.
