Electromechanical safety switches according to the ATEX directive
In potentially explosive atmospheres, the equipment used must comply with specific requirements dictated by the ATEX directive and the corresponding standards. Electromechanical safety switches are category 3D/3G devices within the meaning of the ATEX directive and can be used in hazardous zones 2 and 22 (resp. gas and dust).
For explosion protection, electromechanical safety switches are available as position switches, interlocking devices without guard locking or with monitored guard locking. A protective plate supplied protects the safety switch against impacts to the housing and against the ingress of explosive atmospheres.
This extremely robust housing made of die-cast light alloy combined with an IP 67 protection rating allows them to be used in extreme environments. The safety switch in the NZ version - Interlocking devices type 1 - has a standardized basic housing according to EN 50 041. The SGA / STA safety switches with separate actuating element have a mounting type compatible with the EUCHNER TP switches that have been on the market for a long time.
