AVIME
Reverse-engineering a steam compressor rotor
For some time now, the plant located in Belfort has been heavily penalized by recurring rotor reliability problems as well as prohibitive maintenance costs.
AVIME proposed and produced a "Hermit Crab" rotor for its client. Without replacing the stator, we installed a rotor of our own design. One of the particularities of this rotor lies in its fitting mode designed with a conical assembly and hydraulic assistance for assembly or disassembly. This therefore avoids heating or damaging the turbine.
This operation was carried out in record time, thus enabling a very short shutdown. The compressor was able to restart in the best conditions with an excellent vibration signature. We noted less than 1 mm/s in vibration velocity at 3000 rpm.
