SIOS LSV Laser Vibrometer
The interferometric vibrometer (LS-V NG series) developed by SIOS GmbH is an ideal instrument for precise and non-contact determination of the change in position of objects or surfaces as a function of time for frequencies ranging from 0 to 6MHz.
This instrument was designed from the homodyne 1-beam plane mirror interferometer of the SP NG series. An additional optic has been added to the detection head of the SP series interferometer, which focuses the beam on the object and thus makes it possible to characterize surfaces of any roughness. The focal length is adjustable between 250mm and 2.5m.
The system consists of an electronic unit with a laser, a detection head and various interfaces. The fiber interferometer converts motion along the optical axis into two quadrature signals directly proportional to the motion. By counting fringes and interpolation it is thus possible to obtain resolutions below one nanometer. Specific software carries out the Fourier transform of the signal and delivers the frequency spectrum of the movement of the object.
Features of the fixed or variable focus vibrometer:
- Non-contact measurement
- Easy to align and use
- Temperature and pressure correction
- Determination of vibration modes with high precision
- Determination of resonance frequencies of microscopic objects
- Installation possible in many environments (e.g. machine tool, etc.)
- Fiber optic coupling of the laser beam (this eliminates any thermal influences on the results)
- Includes software to perform the Fourier Transform of the signal
- Possibility of performing a measurement along several axes using several vibrometers
