AMES GROUP SINTERING
Selfoil® Self-lubricating sintered bearings
Description
The SELFOIL® Self-Lubricating Bearings are manufactured using powder metallurgy technology by pressing a metal powder mixture in a rigid mould and sintering the resulting compact in a furnace at a temperature below the melting point. The result is a porous metal component with a strong and stable structure.
The sintered component is sized in order to reach a suitable level of dimensional precision, and as a final step the porosity is impregnated with a lubricant oil. The oil contained in the porosity provides a constant lubrication between bearing and shaft, so the system does not need any additional external lubricant.
