ElectriCity: Renault creates the largest manufacturing centre for electric cars in Europe
Renault wants to make northern France a key location for electric cars. Indeed, the manufacturer has just created a legal entity bringing together three separate industrial sites in Douai (59), Maubeuge (59) and Ruitz (62). Objective of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance: to create a unique competitiveness cluster in Europe in terms of zero-emission vehicles. Renault's ElectriCity project is part of the “Renaulution” strategy unveiled at the end of last year. It brings together some 5,000 employees and should generate 700 additional jobs by 2024. By 2025, this consolidation should enable Renault to produce 400,000 electric vehicles per year on these three sites. The group also plans to build a university and training center within Electricity.
