73 - Opinel: to meet demand, the company is investing in new machines
Faced with an exploding demand, Opinel, (manufacturer of knives) is facing stock shortages on certain products. The Savoyard company, based in Chambéry must therefore recruit and invest in several machines to increase its production. Created in 1890 in Maurienne, Opinel, whose headquarters and manufacturing workshop are now based in Chambéry, is clearly on the rise. For Françoise Detroyat, marketing and communication director of Opinel. "Opinel is a refuge brand, a reference, Made in France, robust products that last over time". To meet this very strong demand, Opinel is investing in several machines to increase production, machines for grinding blades, assembling and shaping handles... an investment of several hundred thousand euros, which over a few years will amount to several million euros. In fifteen years, the company has grown from 80 to 160 employees, including temporary workers and work-study workers, and continues to recruit, particularly in assembly and grinding.
