Macopharma acquires a new production line for blood kits
The blood kit company - owned by Gérard Mulliez, the founder of the Auchan group - has just inaugurated a strategic manufacturing line in its factory in Tourcoing (North). The productive investment, of 4.2 million euros, supplemented by one million euros to rebuild a clean room, will materialize with the commissioning in the coming weeks of a line of flexible filters, used in blood kits. Very technical filters, which can have 22 to 26 layers to block white blood cells or plasma, for example. The new line will produce more than 1,000 filters per hour, when the neighboring manual lines - which have been retained - produce a quarter of them. The site will have been very important to have the machine manufactured in Italy, to test it on the spot, to dismantle it then to transport it and to reassemble it on a site during production. Established in April 2022, it has since undergone a battery of quality certifications, checks and adjustments before its imminent start. The new line, presented as the most modern in the world in terms of automation, will boost its capacity in flexible filters to increase it from 12 to 17 million per year.
