400 jobs at stake with a new battery factory near Valenciennes
Axens, a subsidiary of the IFP Energies nouvelles group, plans to set up a cathode active materials plant in Saint-Saulve, near Valenciennes. This project, currently in exclusive negotiations with Valenciennes Métropole, represents an investment of around 500 million euros and could create 400 jobs.
The Hauts-de-France region, nicknamed "battery valley" by Xavier Bertrand, welcomes a new key player in the electric battery sector. Axens, specializing in catalysis and mineral chemistry, aims to revitalize a former Vallourec industrial wasteland. This project strengthens the region's industrial attractiveness and its role in the energy transition.
