AGC BUSINESS CONSULTING SA
Parts by extrusion
AGC mainly offers you the production of your components in aluminum extrusion, but we can also offer you solutions in other materials (rubber, plastic, steel). Our customers are particularly interested in our low cost tooling and profile finishing solutions
EXPLANATION OF THE EXTRUSION PROCESS
Extrusion is carried out by passing material under pressure through a die using an extrusion press, the products produced are called profiles. The dies correspond to the tooling for shaping the profiles. Several dies can be attached in series to produce complex shapes.
The material is generally heated (around 400°C for aluminium) upstream to facilitate shaping, the raw profiles coming out of the die are generally 12m long. It is nevertheless possible to make shorter or longer ones for specific applications. The piece produced will have a constancy of shape over the length. Heat treatment can then be performed to release the profiles from internal stress.
PROFILES FINISH
Following the extrusion of the profile, several operations can be carried out:
– Cutting of pieces along the length and/or width.
– Drilling/tapping holes all along the profile
– Machining for the realization of complementary shapes not achievable by extrusion
– Deburring
– Surface treatment (mainly anodizing for aluminium)
LIMITS & POSSIBILITIES OF OUR EXTRUSION SOLUTIONS
– For aluminum our minimum order is between 50 and 500 kg of extruded parts depending on their section. This corresponds to the minimum profitability of setting up specific dies on our presses.
– The parts after cutting the profiles can range from a few grams to several kilos (see our references in the portfolio)
– We guarantee very good precision +/- 0.02mm, as well as good dimensional stability over time.
– The surface condition of the parts is very neat with a “brushed” appearance more or less marked according to your needs
