88 – Norske Skog invests €200 million in the construction of a boiler plant on its Golbey site
The Norwegian paper group Norske Skog is going to start on its site in Golbey (Vosges), the construction for 200 million euros of a boiler room powered by recycled wood which will be the largest in France for industrial use. "We are starting the construction of a biomass cogeneration unit to support the conversion of our site, this project named GVE (for Green Valley Energie) will contribute to the decarbonization of our industrial activity and the reduction of our dependence on natural gas" said indicated the direction of the Golbey plant. This new site will produce 700 gigawatt hours (GWh) of heat each year for the production needs of the Vosges paper mill and 200 Gwh of electricity, "the equivalent of the consumption of 13,000 households", which will then be injected into the public network. . It will therefore be "the largest unit of this type in France", it will be commissioned in September 2024. This new plant will allow the Golbey plant to do without gas, and will sustain the current 355 jobs.
