R+W Antriebselemente GmbH
R+W - OUR ELASTOMER INSERT COUPLINGS
For over 30 years, R+W Antriebselemente GmbH has been manufacturing couplings, torque limiters and shaft lines for the whole world from 0.05 Nm to 2000 kNm that could meet your needs. In addition to a wide range of products, we can also offer you special couplings totally adapted to your applications.
FOR MAXIMUM PRECISION AND DYNAMICS: ELASTOMER COUPLINGS FROM R+W
The main advantages of elastomeric couplings are: vibration absorption, pluggable, zero backlash and electrical insulation. They are used in the following areas: Control technology, machine tools, packaging machines, automation systems, printers, control and positioning equipment, general mechanical engineering, pumps and mixers or roller door motors: depending on their function, the areas of use of the elastomer coupling are as varied as your requirements.
ELASTOMER COUPLINGS – DEFINITION, FUNCTION AND PROPERTIES
The elastomer coupling is part of the claw coupling group, but it has an essential additional component: an elastomer insert placed between the two hub halves. This elastomer insert is the central element of the elastomer coupling. It transmits torques from 0.5 to 25,000 Nm without play and compensates for misalignments of axial, lateral and angular shafts. Chosen in the right version and hardness, the elastomer insert optimizes the entire drive chain and guarantees important elements such as vibration absorption, torsional rigidity and temperature resistance. In the particular “ATEX” case, electrical conductivity is also an important characteristic. The compression of the elastomer insert ensures no necessary play, two extremely precisely manufactured hubs with concave claws guarantee precise concentricity. There are different versions with clamping cone. Good absorption has a positive effect on service life, especially in installations subject to frequent shocks, changes or vibrations.
Further information on the elastomer insert can also be found in our “Precision Couplings” manual.
