R+W Antriebselemente GmbH
R+W - OUR TORQUE LIMITERS
For over 30 years, R+W Antriebselemente GmbH has been manufacturing couplings, torque limiters and shaft lines for the whole world from 0.05 Nm to 2000 kNm that could meet your needs. In addition to a wide range of products, we can also offer you special couplings totally adapted to your applications.
FOR GUARANTEED SAFETY IN THE EVENT OF OVERLOAD: TORQUE LIMITERS FROM R+W
Many factors can cause overloads. Torque limiters from R+W guarantee a quick and reliable separation between drive and output side when a predefined torque is exceeded.
THE TECHNICAL BASIS: THE PRINCIPLE OF ENGAGEMENT OF THE R+W TORQUE LIMITER BALL
Mechanical torque limiters from R+W operate according to the spring-loaded ball engagement principle and serve as the ultimate emergency stopping elements of machines. Characteristic of the torque limiter operating mode: the high rigidity of the elements and the complete absence of play. If the torque exceeds the defined threshold, the balls engage and separate the drive side from the output side.
A CLEAR ADVANTAGE FOR MECHANICAL TORQUE LIMITERS
One of the major advantages of mechanical torque limiters is their reaction time. While electronic limiters have a reaction time of approximately 15 to 17 milliseconds from overload to motor shutdown, it takes 3 to 5 milliseconds for a mechanical limiter to completely separate the drive and output sides of an installation.
Another advantage compared to compressed air rapid limiters or friction limiters, mechanical limiters are easy to handle and the limit torque is stable. Indeed, if the overload torque varies over time in the case of the friction limiter, the limit torque remains permanently stable with a coupling applying the ball engagement principle.
AS VARIOUS AS YOUR MACHINES – CUSTOMIZED TORQUE LIMITERS FROM R+W
Torque limiters from R+W offer optimal protection for machine tools, printing machines, milling machines, food technology, packaging machines and many other machines. They are available in different series, in various sizes and with different functionalities for torques from 0.1 to 450,000 Nm.
