Filling of underground cavities
An underground cavity that risks causing a subsidence on the surface or even giving rise to the appearance of sinkholes?
The URETEK® solution makes it possible to fill underground cavities with deactivated clay balls, then associated with the injection of an exclusive URETEK® expanding resin into the filled volume to improve its resistance and ensure optimal keying.
Suitable for filling various volumes
The method is suitable for filling various volumes and can be used in several ways depending on the characteristics of the cavity to be treated.
Firstly, the blowing of the deactivated clay balls is carried out throughout the underground cavity in order to fill the entire space created by the underground void.
Then in a second step, the injections of expanding resin are carried out to fill and perfectly solidarize the vault of the cavity and thus create a locking of the keystone and a setting in compression. This procedure eliminates the risk of sinkholes appearing.
The main applications
- Filling of cellars and buried tanks
- Filling of artificial galleries (marl pits and various mines)
- Filling crawl spaces & securing floors
The use of lightweight materials
The filling of the volumes to be filled is done with light materials that do not overload the underlying soil. In addition to improving the resistance of the soil, the intervention will not generate any risk of subjacent subsidence to the cavity due to the addition of an excessive load related to the filling operations.
If a damaged structure is above the filled cavity, URETEK® can treat the ground between the old void and the structure to improve the ground using the injection of expanding resin.
The advantages of the solution
- Securing risk areas
- Perfect keying without any shrinkage at this level
- Applicable in a confined environment
- Possibility of excavating or drilling the filled area afterwards
- Quick and economical solution
