BIRCHER
Bircher - RK30 - Motion detector radar
Function
Radar motion detectors are based on microwave technology. Movements with a speed ranging from min. 10 cm/s up to max. 5 m/s (persons and/or objects such as shopping carts, vehicles etc.) are detected within the limits of the defined detection zones. People and stationary objects are not detected.
- Increased field sharpness
The new integrated control unit makes it possible, thanks to powerful microprocessors, to detect moving objects even more reliably and precisely. Exactly delimited switching points guarantee a constant and smooth response pattern.
- Linearized potentiometer
Optimal adjustment of the field size thanks to the linearized potentiometer.
- Suppression of interfering signals
Various disturbing environmental influences are automatically suppressed with this innovative technique.
Digital filter function
- Disturbing signals from fluorescent tubes, rain, snow etc. are quickly removed by means of the switchable digital filtering function. It thus guarantees the optimal functioning of doors and industrial gates.
Setting the detection field
- The necessary field widths are set by moving the side walls of the horn antenna. Both left and right side walls can be rotated until they are parallel – asymmetric detection fields are therefore possible.
Important
- The mechanical adjustment of the side walls causes the reverse (reciprocal) formation of the field on the ground.

Electrical settings
Sensitivity
- The response sensitivity is modified by the linearized potentiometer. The sensitivity of the detector depends on the characteristics and dimensions of the surface of the object to be detected. The detection zones defined by the position of the antenna are influenced by the modification of the sensitivity. In order to obtain an optimal adjustment of the detection field, it is therefore necessary to adapt the side walls of the antenna and the electrical sensitivity by means of the potentiometer.
Fall delay
- The drop-out delay of the relay output can be adjusted with a potentiometer.
Direction detection switch
- A switch allows you to choose between direction-detecting mode (stereo) and direction-independent mode (mono). When direction detection (stereo) is active, only signals going to or from the motion detector (depending on the position of the “forward/backward” switch) are analyzed. Sliding and screen doors, those of lifts and vehicles etc. can now be closed up to 50% faster. Environmental protection, energy and cost savings are no longer a dead letter.
Forward/backward switch
- This switch influences the detection as to the direction detection. If the direction sensing switch is in the “stereo” position, the sensing direction can be set using the forward/backward switch.
Switch switching output
Depending on the position of the "switching output" switch, either the output relay is activated on detection of an object or it is deactivated.
