BIRCHER
Bircher - PIR30 - Motion detector radar
Function / Setting / Assembly
Application and advantages
- Ideal for people detection.
- Simple and precise adjustment of the detection field with two tripartite cursors.
- Compensation for temperature variations.
- Small footprint in standard 30 type housing for easy and fast integration.
- Option for recessed or surface mounting with IP65 protection.
- Indicated for ceiling or wall mounting.
- Available with angle swivel brackets, universal swivel bracket or weather protection cover PIR 30.
Function
As their name suggests, passive infrared motion detectors do not emit radiation. As soon as an object whose surface temperature is different from the ambient temperature enters the detection range of a passive infrared detector, the thermal radiation of the object is directed by means of lenses onto detection elements and triggers a switching.
Setting the detection field
The 18 Fresnel lenses are mounted directly in the front cover. Inside a six-part slider, with three stop notches on the right and left respectively, is fixed in front of the lenses. The individual coverage of each Fresnel lens and the resulting field segment on the ground result in the most varied detection fields that can be adjusted exactly, practically at will, like an invisible carpet.
Assembly
Fixed mounting
The sensor is designed for fixed mounting (eg on or in the frame profile of automatic doors). It is not suitable for mobile mounting.
Moving door leaves
Moving door leaves must not enter the detection field. Check with your bare hand 3–5 cm above the ground, as a check, the defined detection field.
Universal mounting
Easy and quick integration into any frame profile. Choice of recessed or surface mounting with IP65 protection. Suitable for wall or ceiling mounting.
Settings
Optical
Each of the three rows of Fresnel lenses can be individually covered by the A/B/C sliders with three 1/2/3 stop notches (from left or right towards the center of the device).
Operating temperature threshold
Potentiometer E (sensitivity adjustment) is used to adjust the operating temperature threshold. A temperature difference of approx. ± 0.5° C from the respective ambient temperature is required for maximum sensitivity and a difference of ± 6° C for minimum sensitivity.
Fall delay
The drop-out delay (relay hold time) is fixed at 0.5 s for the PIR 30.
Order method
It is reversible: active / passive.
Adjustable bracket The adjustable bracket with respective increments of 5 angular degrees allows a total rotation of 270°.
Accessories
Weather protection cover PIR 30
- For weather protection for wall mounting or in the door frame profile.
- For design coordination.
- For protection against mechanical adjustment of the device (vandalism)
IP65 ceiling recessed cartridge
Kit consisting of cartridge with movable side walls for pivoting attachment of the device, housing cover permeable to microwaves and passive infrared, with sealing insert and cover frame for clean final assembly.
Cartridge for surface mounting IP65
Kit identical to that for recessed ceiling but without cover frame.
