67 - Alsace scores a double win with Alsa
The German group Dr. Oetker has decided, after selling the Italian company Newlat which produced the little pink sachet in Lorraine, to gather all the production in Strasbourg where some of the group's preparations are already made. It has also just invested heavily in a new production line at the Alsatian site. Dr. Oetker claims to have secured the existing workstations on the Ludres site (Meurthe-et-Moselle). All 93 employees have indeed been taken over by the Italian group Newlat. Through this operation, the Alsace region is doing a double blow. Not only does it maintain the production of its famous yeast, highly prized by French pastry chefs and professional pastry chefs, but in addition, it welcomes with the Italian Newlat a producer with new ambitions. Indeed, by buying the Ludres plant, the Italian food group has invested 20 million euros and intends to develop a turnover of nearly 50 million in the marketing of its products.
