30 - SNR Cévennes invests €25 million in third-generation bearings
After a trough in 2021, as in the entire automotive sector, the Japanese bearing manufacturer NTN, established in the Alesian basin thanks to its subsidiary SNR Cévennes, is deploying a major investment plan (25 million euros by 2025 ) to renew its production lines and adapt them to market expectations. Objective: to modernize and renew the equipment of its two factories, based in Alès (known as the Croupillac plant) and in Saint-Privat-des-Vieux (known as the Mazac plant). The manufacturer is thus going to create three new production lines for 3rd generation bearings at its factories in the Alesian basin… a change necessary to respond to current developments in the automotive market, with the advent of 3rd generation wheel bearings; These require completely changing the machines and opting for automated lines. Each line having a production capacity of 500,000 pieces per year. SNR Cévennes will thus increase its production capacity for 3rd generation bearings from 4 million (out of a total of 11 to 12 million parts in the two factories) to 5.5 million per year.
