PAM Building to invest in new furnace
PAM Building, formerly Pont-à-Mousson, which has officially turned the page on Saint-Gobain, is opening a new chapter in its history by investing in a new electric furnace.
"This new step will allow Pam Building to become one of the major players in decarbonization in industry," says Eric Escalettes, CEO of Pam Building. With the support of Aldebaran and Bpifrance, the company is embarking on a major transformation with the installation of an electric furnace by 2028-2030, a project that is part of an ambitious strategy to reduce CO2 emissions. "We are going to implement an ambitious decarbonization plan, with the switch to an electric furnace in Bayard, to significantly reduce its environmental footprint," explains Amélie Brossier, founder of Aldebaran. This project also reflects Bpifrance's commitment to the ecological transition, as Elyssa Maufras du Châtellier points out: "The development project driven by a very strong ambition is fully echoed in Bpifrance's commitment to supporting French industry."
A green transition in figures and actions
Pam Building has already reduced its CO2 emissions by 24% between 2017 and 2023. The objective is to achieve an 80% reduction by 2030, based on technological innovations such as the electric furnace planned for the Bayard-sur-Marne plant. The company is also focusing on research and development to strengthen its flagship ranges, including Agilium®, the first lightweight cast iron on the market, and Elixair®, an innovative geothermal system.
Promising growth from cast iron
Since becoming independent in 2021, Pam Building has recorded 10% growth in its first year, with a turnover of €110 million in 2023. The company, with its 400 employees, intends to continue its international expansion thanks to its strategic partnership with Aldebaran and Bpifrance. Produced from 99% recycled materials, cast iron remains a key material for Pam Building. Its longevity, acoustic performance and low maintenance requirements make it a preferred choice for the tertiary and hotel sectors. Each year, the company recycles the equivalent of 18,000 cars, demonstrating its commitment to the circular economy.
