How Rigid Couplings Work
Safe and fast torque transmission is guaranteed thanks to the grip between shaft and hub, even without a keyway. The low moments of inertia and the excellent balancing quality allow a dynamic response even in the high revs. Our couplings are maintenance-free and wear-resistant. Applications range from demanding drive systems in mechanical engineering to measuring and control operations, including spindle and axle drives in machine tools. Other common areas of application are textile, packaging and woodworking machinery, as well as industrial robotics and multi-spindle drilling heads.
Rigid couplings are mainly used in the fields of conveying technology, the packaging industry, in mechanical engineering, semiconductor research or even the automotive industry. Further possible fields of application: • special machine construction • measuring systems • machine tools • cleaning technology • sealing technology • textile industry • food industry
Advantages and properties of rigid couplings Rigid couplings offer the mechanic great stability at high speeds. It is then important that there are no shaft transfers or alignment errors. Other advantages: • High resistance to torsion in the event of dynamic load variations • Low moment of inertia • Angle-preserving energy transmission • High temperature resistance • No screw loosening induced by vibrations • Low wear (reduced maintenance) Norelem rigid couplings withstand a speed of 4
