The new safety curtains and safety light barriers of the SLC/SLG 240 COM series
The new SLC/SLG 240 COM Schmersal series security curtains and light barriers offer many practical functions to meet a multitude of applications. For those who require a small safety distance from the dangerous point, this new series has been extended with a resolution of 14 mm.
Beam masking for stationary and moving objects in the protection area enables safe and trouble-free production processes. Partial areas of the protective field can be suppressed, without triggering a stop signal, so that moving objects, such as e.g. workpieces, conveyor belt can be positioned in a fixed position in the protective area ... In addition, it is possible to couple a pair of sensors in series, in order to secure machines from different sides with a single cut-off device.
For the first time, this series has been equipped with an optical configuration tool, which displays the signal quality during safety operation. A solution that saves time, because the user no longer needs to switch to configuration mode for the optimal adjustment of the sensors. For example, in the presence of impurities on the sensors of the light barriers and reduction of the intensity of the signals, an optical warning message is displayed in order to be able to take, in due time, the necessary corrective measures. This makes it possible to anticipate malfunctions and avoid unscheduled downtime of the installation.
As with all of Schmersal's compact (28x32mm) AOPD* product series, the SLC/SLG 240 COM models allow tool-based parameterization of all functions. Status messages are also displayed in color on the receiver. In conjunction with an SD gateway, diagnostics and status information is transmitted to a master controller – and, in combination with the new Smart Safety solution from Schmersal, even into the cloud.
In accordance with the EN/ISO 61496 standard for type 2 AOPD systems, the SLC/SLG 240 COM safety light curtains and barriers achieve performance level PL c.
