SCHMERSAL
A big step for safety: AZM400 Motorized bolt interlocking for more safety requirements
The Schmersal Group presents the latest addition to its safety interlocking program. Among the characteristics of the AZM400: the locking force of 10,000 N, the bistable operating principle or the motorized bolt. Thus, the new series is also suitable for very large motorized guards, such as those installed in CNC machining centers. The "electronics"-"safety sensor" combination offers, depending on the requirements of the users, a high availability of machines and installations as well as interesting additional functions, while guaranteeing a very high level of safety. The AZM400 bolt safety interlock is consisting of a box with sensors and motorized bolt as well as an actuator with RFID coded sensor. The bolt retainer is equipped with two permanent magnets. As soon as the bolt is sufficiently inserted, the guard is considered securely locked. The locking force of the AZM400 is 10,000 N. Thanks to the integration of RFID technology in the safety sensor, the 'high' coding level according to ISO 14119 is achieved for the individually coded versions. Regarding the locking function, the locking of the bolt reaches PL e and Cat. 4 according to DIN EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 according to IEC 61508. The high level of safety for the locking function is achieved, among other things, by means of the two-channel unlocking signal. This prevents untimely unlocking, for example following a cross-circuit. In this way, uncontrolled access to hazardous areas is prevented. The AZM400 is a bistable system, which maintains the last locked state of the interlock in the event of a power failure. The interlocked condition of the guard is maintained in the event of a voltage drop, even if dangerous inertial movements occur. The AZM400 allows unlocking by applying a transverse force of 300 N max. Thus, interruptions to the production process are avoided, which increases the productivity of machines and plants. Built-in safety sensors allow lock position monitoring and fault detection. All this contributes to a reduction in error messages and an increase in productivity. The new input wiring for controlling the restraint function allows the connection of the AZM400 to all conventional safety control systems. These safety control systems can optionally be equipped with P/P or P/N outputs. No need for different versions of AZM400.
