Murata launches a new production line in its Caen (Calvados) factory.
Murata Manufacturing has just inaugurated a new silicon capacitor production line at its Caen plant, following a €60 million investment. This project is part of the Japanese company’s growth strategy, which aims to strengthen its production in Europe, supported by initiatives such as the Chips Act and IPCEI. The new line will make it possible to manufacture 50 µm thick capacitors mainly intended for mobile phones, while increasing production capacity for mass markets. The Caen plant, acquired in 2016 after the purchase of French start-up IPDiA, has seen its workforce increase to 250 employees. These components, used in a variety of fields such as medical systems and telecommunications infrastructure, benefit from cutting-edge technologies developed locally. This project demonstrates Murata’s commitment to supporting the European electronics industry and investing in the future of technology.
