SLC / SLG 440 IP69K series: hygienic and robust photoelectric barrier
The Schmersal Group has developed a new series of safety barriers and light curtains, specially adapted for use in hygienic areas, such as for example in the food or pharmaceutical industry, meat or milk processing.
The new SLC / SLG 440 IP69K series is resistant to daily cleaning operations, usual in these sectors of activity. Due to its original design, the series achieves the IP 69K degree of protection (protection against water ingress during high pressure or steam jet cleaning). This electro-sensitive protective equipment (AOPD) meets very strict sealing requirements and withstands frequent cleaning with water, detergent, foam, hot steam or high pressure. In addition, the new series meets the principles of “hygienic design”.
The caps of the SLC / SLG 440 IP69K series are made of stainless steel (V4A), just like the cable entry and the fixing parts. The transparent protective tube made of polycarbonate (PC) not only offers high resistance to detergents, but also high mechanical stress. In the event of an accidental collision between the cleaning lances and the housing of the SLC / SLG 440 IP69K series during high-pressure cleaning or in the event of a collision with mobile equipment for example, the safety and protection function is not affected. affected thanks to the sturdy protective tube.
The material thus guarantees greater availability and a long service life of light curtains and safety barriers and also makes it possible to produce waterproof safety devices with compact dimensions: the protective tube has a diameter of only 50 mm. The resistance of the materials has also been tested and validated by the independent testing laboratory Ecolab.
Other features of this series include additional functions, e.g. a double acknowledgment, control by electromagnetic contactor and integrated neutralization of the beam, which allows e.g. the introduction of moving parts through the protective field without triggering the stop signal. Another particularly practical function is the dirt indicator. If the reception signal strength of the sensor decreases, an optical warning signal is generated. The user can then intervene before an unforeseen immobilization of the installation.
