Interlocking device for ATEX zones: Ex STM 298
The Ex STM 298-3GD safety switching device is a new safety interlocking device for potentially explosive gas and dust environments . Among other things, it is distinguished by its compact and narrow shape , which makes it well suited for mounting on profile systems in mechanical engineering and in narrow locations.
The die-cast aluminum housing contains a robust communication system which provides locking of the protective door. High holding forces (up to 3000 N with straight or flexible actuator) can be achieved. In this way, it is reliably prevented that the operator cannot open the protective door before the dangerous movement has stopped.
The new interlocking device is particularly versatile because it can be supplied with a choice of different actuators (straight, angled and flexible) , and because the actuator head can be adjusted in 90° intervals . Users also have a choice of options: The range includes different NC/NO variants.
In addition, the Ex STM 298-3GD is suitable for applications with high switching frequency and under adverse environmental conditions requiring protection class up to IP 67.
In accordance with the ATEX directives, the Ex STM 298-3GD is approved for zones EX 2 gas or EX 22 dust. A typical application of the dust-blast-exposed variant, presented for the first time at Powtech, is the securing of protective doors of production, filling and packaging machines for dusty or powdery products.
